Police Officer Indicted On Charges He Conspired To Rob Drug Dealer And Launder Money

Attorney General Stuart Rabner and Criminal Justice Director Gregory A. Paw announced that a suspended Camden police officer was indicted today on charges he conspired with a second man to rob a drug dealer, providing a gun to the second man and agreeing to launder robbery proceeds.

According to Director Paw, Michael Anthony Hearne, 42, of Woodbury, was indicted by a state grand jury on second-degree charges of conspiracy, official misconduct, attempted robbery, attempted money laundering and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, as well as a fourth-degree charge of unlawful disposition of a weapon. In addition, Hearne and his wife, Annie L. Hearne, 36, were each indicted on third-degree charges of conspiracy to launder money and money laundering.

The indictment alleges that on Nov. 7, 2006, Hearne provided a loaded .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun to the second man for him to use to rob a drug dealer. Hearne allegedly agreed to launder more than $75,000 which the co-conspirator said he obtained from the robbery and which the men allegedly planned to divide between them. Read more at nj.gov.
